President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has pledged continued government support to Mr. David Irumba, a thriving agribusiness entrepreneur based in Bulera East Cell, Kyentale Ward, Hoima East Division, Hoima City.

During a visit to Mr. Irumba’s farm today, the President lauded his commitment to wealth creation, noting that his achievements reflect the government’s message of economic empowerment. Mr. Irumba, who started in 2018 with just three acres of coffee, has since diversified into poultry and goat farming, currently employing 50 workers and recording impressive financial progress.

With a poultry stock of 50,000 birds producing 500 trays of eggs daily, Mr. Irumba earns UGX 150 million per month, and is on track to generate UGX 1 billion in annual revenue within the next five months. Additionally, his coffee business earns him an average of UGX 1.6 million monthly.

Expressing his appreciation to the President for honoring his request to visit, Mr. Irumba highlighted the critical role played by Uganda Development Bank (UDB) in providing a loan that helped kick-start his enterprise. He also credited government initiatives, particularly access to electricity and improved road infrastructure, as key contributors to his success.

As proprietor of Keywood Group Limited, Mr. Irumba urged fellow Ugandans not to overlook opportunities presented by government programs, particularly socio-economic initiatives like the Parish Development Model (PDM).

He further requested government assistance in acquiring additional equipment, including an egg-breaking machine, a complete feed mixer, and a delivery truck to streamline egg distribution.

In response, President Museveni pledged a feed mixer valued at Shs80 million, an egg-breaking machine worth Shs120 million, and a truck for egg transportation. He also assured Mr. Irumba that the Ministry of Agriculture would intervene to address the farm’s water supply needs, supporting both poultry farming and cattle zero-grazing efforts.

Vice President H.E. Jessica Alupo commended President Museveni’s visionary leadership in transitioning Uganda to a money-driven economy. Similarly, Prime Minister Rt. Hon. Robinah Nabbanja applauded the government’s dedication to infrastructure development, citing improved road networks and the ongoing construction of Hoima International Airport as key milestones.

Looking ahead, Mr. Irumba revealed plans to transform his farm into a model demonstration farm aimed at inspiring and training other farmers across the region.
