The NRM government, led by President Museveni, is working tirelessly to fulfill the NRM’s platform promise to lift Ugandans out of poverty and into a money economy.
In order to ensure that government programs are implemented effectively on the ground, the Minister for Presidency, Hon. Babirye Milly Babalanda, met with residents of Buyende Town Council at Nakabira Cope Centre Primary School in Buyende District. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss the efficacy of government programs such as PDM, Emyooga, and other social services.
“From the fountain of honor, H.E. Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, and the First Lady Janet Kataha Museveni, I extend my greetings to you all. We are grateful to the Almighty God for bringing us to the year 2025.”
As everyone is aware, President Museveni is always on the ground assessing how well the PDM, Emyooga, and all other government social programs are performing. For the same reason, he will shortly be joining us in Busoga.
“We must collaborate to ensure that poverty is eradicated in the nation; I cannot simply sit in an office while my boss is on the ground,” she stated.
“Not just President Museveni, but all Ugandans are eligible for these initiatives. Therefore, it is everyone’s responsibility to make sure that we succeed by ending poverty in our local communities. Participate in these programs, make money, utilize it for personal development, and use it to get out of poverty instead of wasting it on pointless things, the minister advised.
She emphasized the significance of keeping an eye on government initiatives to end poverty, which she characterized as a significant barrier to progress. She cautioned that living in poverty could result in social exclusion and a sad existence. She also told the people that the money is still accessible and stated that the PDM should give one million shillings to each household.
In addition to the PDM Money that the government gives to families, Minister Babalanda promised to help the members in their individual SACCOs and support their ideas.
“I will be supplying start-up food, chicks to different families, and free medical treatment for these chicks anytime they require it. Ending the burden of poverty is the aim of everything we do,” the minister stated.
Although there are still power outages in some parts of the Buyende district, the minister gave the residents hope that this will change.
“As soon as I became aware of this issue, I communicated with the relevant Ministry of Energy personnel, and all areas will soon have power. As we wait for power to arrive so that the evening markets can go, I will also provide an innovative option by installing solar panels in every trading center. We generate revenue day and night since we are working to combat poverty,” she said.
The Minister promises to work with the necessary Ministries and departments to find solutions for every problem, including ensuring that every hamlet has access to safe and clean water, a good road system across the district, sufficient school facilities, and health care.
The third phase of the PDM is presently being distributed, according to Major Betty Akello Otekat, the RDC of Buyende District. In her speech, she urged the Buyende population to support government initiatives and refrain from corruption.
“Buyende district advertised government job opportunities, but no one should ask for money to get a job,” she added, warning the public against corruption.
She asked everyone in the community to be on the lookout for security issues.
Among other officials, RDCs and local leaders also attended the ceremony.
