The 4-Acre Model Will Transform The North

According to the President, one acre is dedicated to coffee, another to fruits (citrus and mangoes, pineapples), a third to pasture for feeding livestock, and the final acre is dedicated to food crop production.

President Museveni stated that wealth creation is critical in empowering people when campaigning for the National Resistance Movement-NRM candidate, Mr Samuel Okello Engola Junior, in the Oyam North parliamentary by-election last week. He distinguished between wealth and development, stating that lonyo (wealth) is a personal initiative to generate riches in our homes, whereas dongo lobo (development) is pushed by the government because it must provide roads, schools, and other infrastructure for development.

The four-acre model is based on the fact that northern Uganda has good soils that support smart farming. According to the President, one acre is dedicated to coffee, another to fruits (citrus and mangoes, pineapples), a third to pasture for feeding livestock, and the final acre is dedicated to food crop production.

The many firms are interdependent in order to support high productivity and good returns on investment due to free fertilizers. Animal dung is available for crops and will lower production costs. As a result, the four-acre model is a self-sustaining technique for increasing household income.

Uganda must combat poverty by boosting agricultural output, which can be accomplished by increasing farm productivity. Profitable farming is not far away. Forex ample Edward Kizito, 29, crops have been bountiful in recent months. He grows maize, coffee, and bananas on his little farm in Buikwe, Uganda, because he used fertilizer, allowing him to acquire a truck and enhance his household income.

The government has already increased its investment in infrastructure such as roads and startup capital such as the Parish Development Model; it is now up to the public, to rise up and support income-generating ventures.
