Opposition MPs have been urged by President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni to stop disseminating false information and pressuring their followers to support government initiatives.

President Museveni claims that these kinds of groups are the cause of the poverty that many Ugandans continue to experience.

It’s risky to dissuade people from adopting government initiatives and engaging in wealth creation, regardless of your views on the matter. President Museveni stated, “I was preaching wealth creation in the cattle corridor even though I was a member of the opposition in the Democratic Party in the 1960s.

The President spoke yesterday in Mwera village in Kakindu sub county, Mityana district, accompanied by the First Lady and Minister of Education and Sports, Maama Janet Museveni, and their two daughters, Mrs. Natasha Museveni Karugire and Mrs. Patience Rwabwogo.

He had gone to give Ms. Anna Maria Mukaluyinda Nakampi of Kijaguzo Parish, Semuto in Nakaseke District a fully equipped house and a car as a token of gratitude for her support during the five-year liberation war that put President Museveni’s National Resistance Army in power.

Ms. Nakampi is one of the people who actively participated in the struggle alongside the armed liberation fighters, despite not being a soldier.

President Museveni told the assembly that among other things, they had support at Kijaguzo Parish in the shape of shelter, food, and reconnaissance services that included showing them the way to secret passages.

“Sister Nakampi is the reason I came here, so I would like to thank her.” She was our wartime ally. Although she wasn’t a soldier, she and Fr. Sseguya cared after our girls and a few other people in addition to letting us use their homes. Thus, Sister Nakampi has my gratitude,” said President Museveni.

In addition, he urged the people of Mityana to ignore those trying to dissuade them from supporting government initiatives meant to drive out poverty.

“There are those who have profited from the money we sent you from the national budget to help you escape poverty. I didn’t make that money from selling my cows. According to H.E. Museveni, the government provides shs. 100 million each parish annually, and if used well, that amount may rise to shs. 200 million. “It’s your money, and those who are discouraging you should know that,” he said.

He urged people to follow his advice on creating wealth, particularly with regard to the seven activities of wealth creation under the four sectors of commercial agriculture, manufacturing, ICT, and the four acre-model.

With one acre devoted to coffee farming, another to fruit trees, a third to staple crops for domestic use, and a fourth to cattle grazing, the concept promotes diversification. He also mentioned that a farmer may raise pigs and poultry in their backyard.

The President claims that these are a few of the methods used to create jobs.

The President said, “When I come here, I want to raise a few points because sometimes you spend time with people who don’t help you.” He also urged the populace to distinguish between wealth, which benefits an individual or family, and development, which benefits all citizens by building roads, electricity, schools, and hospitals.

“On that point, the Kampala-Mityana Road was our first project when the NRM took office, thus many of you would profit from it. We also worked on the road that leads to Hoima from Kampala to Busunju-Kiboga. And now I can see that power is also closer to you– all that is growth. Furthermore, you may be impoverished but close to a paved road. Both poverty and wealth are personal to you. President Museveni declared, “You will remain poor if you do not use the development in your area to bring about wealth creation activities and enough food in your home.”

He also urged the populace to make the most of their ability to choose representatives who will oversee government-funded initiatives.

“It is up to you to investigate through the representatives you chose. He added, “Here, you elected the opposition, and I also know that they rigged the elections.”

Regarding the problem of landlords driving out squatters, the President stated that the Constituent Assembly had agreed that no one should ever evict a Kibanja person and that the government should set the ceiling.

Landlords are not allowed to pursue Bibanja holders in this way. I’ll talk about some issues with the NRM caucus, but nobody should be forcing people off the property. We will increase our contributions to the land fund in light of the expanding economy,” the President promised.

President Museveni promised to give 10 cows to Kakindu Catholic Parish in addition to giving them Shs. 10 million at the same event.

Additionally, he pledged to donate Shs. 10 million to the district’s women’s SACCO organization and Shs. 20 million to each of the Ghetto structure and boda-boda SACCOs.

Alhaji Moses Kigongo, the First National Vice Chairperson of the NRM, expressed gratitude to the Mityana community for their support of the party since 1986. He expressed gratitude to President Museveni for his great gesture of remembering his friends like Ms. Anna Maria Nakampi.

This is not what I expected. Ms. Nakampi was merely a convent sister who offered up prayers for us. Thank you for that generosity of heart, Mr. President. I can now see why our religious leaders tell us to always have a nice heart. This is the appropriate behavior for all Ugandans. “There’s no justification for us to incite animosity towards one another,” Alhaji Kigongo declared.

The Parish Development Model is one of the successful government programs in Mityana that the Minister for Lands, Housing, and Urban Development, Hon. Judith Nabakooba, highlighted. She also mentioned that up to 73% more people in the district are now participating in the money economy.

“The only government that looks out for the average citizen and helps them create money is this one. I migrated to other countries, but they don’t empower their people to create riches; instead, they just concentrate on social services. We appreciate those initiatives, Minister Nabakooba remarked.

In his speech, Hon. Godfrey Kiwanda Ssuubi, the NRM Vice Chairman for the Central Region, assured President Museveni of his continuous support.
Additionally, he expressed his gratitude to the President for collaborating with Buganda Kingdom to promote coffee throughout the area.

However, Ms. Anna Maria Nakampi thanked President Museveni for building her the home of her dreams, where she will live out the rest of her days.

“I appreciate that you have not forgotten your people. I shall carry out my church job and keep praying for you, as I have been doing ever since we first met. Many thanks for it. “Who am I?” Sister Nakampi expressed her gratitude to Gen. Proscovia Nalweyiso for her excellent care.

She urged young people to start earning money and to cultivate a strong work ethic.

Let’s acquire work skills. A person who is unemployed poses a problem to the country as well as to themselves. I began working when I was quite young and have continued to this day. I make a great deal of money growing coffee. “Where are you going to get the money if you haven’t worked?” she said.
