To ensure the Parish Development Model’s (PDM) success in the Rubanda District, all stakeholders have been urged to support it by Hon. Henry Musasizi, the State Minister for Finance who is in charge of General Duties. Additionally, he has stated that he wants Rubanda District to be the country’s example for PDM success.

Musasizi expressed his views on a Saturday while speaking to the 301 enthusiasts who make up the Hamuhambo Town Council Poultry Keepers Project. He expressed his gratitude to the project participants for their efforts, which were in line with the government’s goal of eradicating poverty and improving people’s quality of life.

Musasizi urged those who had not yet signed up for PDM to do so, highlighting the program’s capacity for transformation. “You can invest the one million Ugandan Shillings that the government provides through PDM in buying chicks and improving your ability as a poultry farmer,” he said. The purpose of the government is to give you the money you need to escape the subsistence economy.

He asked for their cooperation in realizing this vision and gave the guests his assurance that PDM would succeed. He expressed a great deal of optimism that Rubanda District could serve as a national model for PDM success.

Musasizi also disclosed that some parish leaders were participating in corrupt activities, while others undercut PDM efforts by giving seed money or capital to beneficiaries who weren’t eligible. He asked Ugandans to contact the Office of the Resident District Commissioners (RDCs) or the police in case of such misbehavior.

“No one will be permitted to obstruct government initiatives aimed at reducing poverty. PDM saboteurs ought to be reported to the police, your MP, or the RDC’s office. We refuse to let our hard work go unnoticed. We have to take action to make sure you receive these cash because you elected us to be your representatives, stressed Musasizi.

The association’s head, Moses Muramira, reported that some of its members had been able to sell chickens and cover the cost of their kids’ schooling. He went on to say that by 2025, they wanted every home to have at least 100 hens.

Minister Musasizi gave the association five million Ugandan Shillings to increase its capability.

In February of the previous year, the government began implementing PDM with the goal of helping the 16.1 million Ugandans, or 3.5 million households, who are now living in subsistence economies. The government has funded every parish across the nation with up to 100 million Ugandan Shillings through this scheme. The money will be utilized as a revolving fund to assist members of Saving and Credit Cooperative Organizations (Saccoo).
