The Ugandan government gave 560 million shillings to the Obongi district for 18 different groups. Six months ago, the recovery rate was zero. However, thanks to the RDC’s office’s frequent monitoring, mobilization, and arrest of defaulters, among other actions, the recovery rate has now reached forty percent. The embezzlers of Emyooga funds have been warned by RDC Obongi, Mr. Samuel Mpimbaza Hashaka, that they will face arrest and legal action should they fail to reimburse the funds.
Hashaka expressed gratitude to a few of the Emyooga recipients in the Obongi district for using the funds appropriately. He did, however, credit the Obongi Constituency Mechanics SACCO with bringing about socioeconomic change. He expressed gratitude to Mr. Bakole Shaban, a SACCO member, who borrowed one million shillings to start a bicycle repair shop. Mr. Shaban later repaid the loan and has since hired four workers.
Mr. Bakole Shaban notified the West Nile Microfinance Support Center, the focal person for Emyooga, and the Obongi RDC that he now generates a profit of 300,000/= every day, significantly enhancing his quality of life. He expressed gratitude to H.E., the President of the Republic of Uganda, for launching such a fantastic program that has significantly increased wealth for a large number of beneficiaries in West Nile and throughout the nation.
Mr. Bakole Shaban reported his current daily profit of 300,000/= to the West Nile Microfinance Support Center, the Emyooga focal person, and the Obongi Resident District Commissioner.
Obongi RDC In a statement to the media, Samuel Mpimbaza Hashaka stated that the West Nile Emyoga Zonal focal point, Ofoyomungu Jerry, and his office have begun to monitor the Emyooga’s performance across all the groups under various enterprises in the Obongi district.
The “Obongi Constituency Mechanics Emyoga SACCO,” which has offices in the Obongi town council, was the first SACCO to be visited on Saturday morning. In June 2021, the government gave 30 million shillings to the SACCO as seed capital. With 167 members, the SACCO has recovered 34 million shillings from loans out of a loan portfolio worth over 90 million shillings.
The members who are carrying out the exact tasks that the government assigns them deserve the accolades and success stories. Hasaka RDC Samuel organized the people of Obongi and West Nile to make sure they understood the NRM government’s socioeconomic transformation and that poverty would be eradicated via the creation of wealth.
