Two Kagadi Parish Chiefs Arrested Over Alleged PDM Extortion

There are 151 parishes in the Kagadi District, and more than 35,000 PDM recipients live there.

Two parish chiefs in the Mpefu sub-county of the Kagadi district were detained and had to return money they had extorted from PDM recipients.

Joel Biseesa, the parish chief of Mugyenza, and Samuel Kagwa, the parish chief of Burigira in the Mpefu town council, have been named as the suspects.

This came about after the victims petitioned the Resident District Commissioner’s office over erroneous charges brought against them so they might get PDM cash.

Sarapio Kahirigo, 60, and others are accused of paying the sh70,000 under the guise of paying for a computer, password, and transportation.

The guilty parish chiefs were summoned by RDC Lilian Ruteraho, who then made them return the money.
