State House Anti-Corruption Unit Arrests 16 People For Stealing PDM Funds

In total, 16 government officials were arrested in State House-Anti Corruption Unit's clean-up operation in Acholi sub-region alone (as Brig Gen Isoke is reported to have informed the NRM parliamentary caucus).

In the June 2023 corruption news roundup, the unyielding and unforgiving Brig-Gen Isoke-led State House anti-corruption unit descended on Gulu and Kitgum, and hurled its axe at a racket of thieving local government officials who had stolen over UGX 500m of funds earmarked for the Parish Development Model.

The brawl ensnared Atwom Morish (the Kitgum Commercial Officer) and Ocira Denish (the Agriculture Officer), who joined the district Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) and other officials in the state fridge.

In total, 16 government officials were arrested in State House-Anti Corruption Unit’s clean-up operation in Acholi sub-region alone (as Brig Gen Isoke is reported to have informed the NRM parliamentary caucus).

Meanwhile, Mungereza Edward is in jail for attempting to corruptly offer Daniel Mayombo (a legal officer at the State House Anti-Corruption Unit) a bribe of UGX 5,000,000 in order to secure the release of Tumwine Evarist, who was detained at Mbarara Police Station on charges of forgery.

Tumwine Evarist, whom Mungereza Edward was seeking to corruptly rescue, had been caught by State House-Anti Corruption Unit attempting to illegally process and obtain a land title on government land in Kyarwabuganda. The land in question is 14.62 hectares in size and includes features such as a health center III, two cattle dams, LC II Administrative units, and playgrounds. Tumwine Evarist also had dubious items in his possession, including two Ministry of Lands identity cards indicating that he was a Senior Staff Surveyor in both Masaka and Mbarara, as well as several dubious land applications, original land files, and land titles.
