President Museveni to Deliver Historic Wealth Creation Lecture in Bugisu

President Yoweri Museveni will deliver a significant public lecture on wealth creation to the youth of Bugisu sub-region on September 12, 2024, at the Mbale SS Playground in Mbale City. This event marks nearly 17 years since the President's first public address on the topic.

President Yoweri Museveni is set to deliver a historic public lecture on wealth creation, primarily to youths from the districts that comprise the Bugisu sub-region.

This historic event, which commemorates nearly 17 years since the President’s first public talk on this critical matter, is set for September 12, 2024, at the Mbale SS Playground in Mbale City.

This seminar, according to the organizers promises to be a landmark event for the teenagers of Bugisu and the greater eastern region. The excitement among the youth has been palpable for years, and now, by divine providence, the long-awaited opportunity has arrived.

Mr Chris Buyela, the Office of the National Chairman Coordinator for Bugisu Region, who is in charge of this event, says it is more than just a lecture; it is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for Bugisu’s Bazukulu (grandchildren) to engage directly with President Museveni, a leader whose vision and policies shaped modern Uganda.

Agricultural excellence and cultural heritage: According to Buyela, the Bugisu sub-region, known for its agricultural prowess, is a shining example of production and cultural richness, with some of Uganda’s most fertile soils, making it an agricultural heartland. Its main cash crop, Arabica coffee, is worldwide renowned for its exceptional quality, putting Bugisu on the coffee map.

Furthermore, the region is rich in both natural resources and cultural legacy. The Bamasaba people, known for their distinct and vibrant culture, celebrate the Imbalu initiation ceremony, a rite that attracts visitors from all over the world,” Buyela says, adding that this cultural celebration not only preserves Bamasaba traditions but also promotes tourism and cultural exchange, adding another layer to Bugisu’s socioeconomic fabric.

A Golden Opportunity; Buyela further emphasizes that President Museveni’s public talk is an excellent opportunity for Bugisu’s young to learn about wealth creation directly from a leader who has long advocated for economic empowerment and development.

“The event is expected to address various aspects of economic growth, entrepreneurship, and sustainable development, tailored specifically to the unique strengths and potentials of the Bugisu sub-region,” according to him.

And, as the region prepares to receive President Museveni, Buyela encouraged all locals, particularly young people, to join and actively engage in this amazing symposium.

“This is more than simply a lecture; it is an opportunity to learn, be inspired, and interact directly with the highest office in the land. It is an opportunity for the youth to gain wisdom, ask essential questions, and visualize their role in the future development of Bugisu and Uganda in general.”

He continues, “Ladies and gentlemen, let us seize this great chance. Join us on September 12, 2024, at the Mbale Playground to watch and participate in a historic event that promises to usher in a new period of prosperity and expansion in the Bugisu sub-region.”
