President Museveni Reinforces Wealth Creation Strategy at Kisozi Rally

President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni emphasized his wealth creation strategy during a special public rally at Kisozi Primary School in Gomba District.

President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni reaffirmed his wealth creation strategy to the leadership of the three branches of government yesterday, presenting accountability in the form of testimonies of significant achievements already recorded by farmers in Gomba and Sembabule districts who heeded his advice.

“We the people of Kisozi have decided to invite you to share with you our line of thinking which is the line of NRM. Some people were fighting Sarah Nalwanga, the project coordinator.I informed them that this is not Nalwanga’s project, but mine. Nalwanga now operates a nursery bed of coffee and fruit seedlings so that we can distribute them to more people, and we can add additional items later,” he explained.

The President, accompanied by the First Lady and Minister of Education and Sports, Maama Janet Museveni, made the remarks today at a special public rally held at Kisozi Primary School in Gomba District to demonstrate to the country’s leaders that it is possible to eradicate poverty from the population if only they (leaders) set an example.

President Museveni stated that the entire cattle corridor has the same success stories, from Isingiro to Mbarara, Kiruhura, Lyantonde, Sembabule, Gomba, Kyakwanzi, Kiboga, Ngoma, and Masindi, as a result of their student movement’s strong wealth development awareness campaign among the public.

He stated that the current problem is to get dairy farmers to use zero-grazing instead of free grazing.

“In Uganda, you need three and a half square miles to keep 1000 cows. You might not have that kind of acreage, therefore we said no; you do dairy farming. We began dairy farming in 1989, and by 1995, it was successful in Nyabushozi and had spread like wildfire throughout the cattle corridor,” President Museveni stated.

“You recall I performed the nationwide tour and saw how well it worked. I reached out to everyone and hoped it would spread. In 2018 I distributed this booklet, the 4 sectors and 7 actions for wealth development but at the same time I applied the way of working with people near me,” he added.

The President went on to say that when he purchased land in Kisozi in the 1990s, the residents were democratically poor, and he was encouraged to lift them out of poverty by appointing officers from the State House to investigate and recommend a course of action, resulting in the 4 acre model.

He emphasized the fervor of the NRM policy to lift all Ugandans out of poverty by pushing them to become deeply involved in modern commercial agriculture through calculation.

Hon. Robina Rwakoojo, the Gomba West Member of Parliament, praised President Museveni for summoning the three branches of government (executive, judicial, and legislative) to her area.

Several testimony were presented by progressive farmers from the nine villages of Sembabule and Gomba districts who are now heavily involved in the cash economy.

The nine settlements are: Kirasi, Kajumiro, Kisozi A, Kisozi B, Kikuma, Obutugu, Lutunku A, Lutunku B, and Kasozi.

Some of the farmers from Sembabule district who gave their testimony included Isirairi Kwefuga, who owns 10 acres of coffee and makes more than Shs220 million per year. He is also active in dairy farming, producing 800 litres of milk every day. Other farmers were Justine Nyamwiza, Zizebera James, and Kusasira Noah.

They all congratulated President Museveni for opening their minds and showed them how to become millionaires.

Farmers from Gomba District also testified, with David Nasasira’s sub-county of Kyahi currently the biggest milk producer, producing 394 thousand litres a day.

Mr. Kabera from Maddu sub-county in Gomba is another innovative farmer who owns many businesses and a dairy training school and employs over 60 young people.

The Special rally was attended by the Vice President, H.E Jessica Alupo and the Speaker of Parliament the Rt. Hon. Anita Among.

Others present included the Prime Minister, Rt.Hon. Robinah Nabbanja, the Deputy Speaker, Rt.Hon. Thomas Tayebwa, the Head of Public Service and Secretary to the Cabinet, Ms. Lucy Nakyobe, the NRM First National Vice Chairman, Al-hajji Moses Kigongo, Ministers, officials from the NRM Secretariat led by the Secretary General, Rt Hon. Richard Todwong, and MPs, among others.
