PM Robina Nabbanja issues a warning to Hoima’s PDM implementers

Parish heads and other program administrators have been warned by Prime Minister Robinah Nabbanja not to abuse the Parish Development Model program.

Parish heads and other program administrators have been warned by Prime Minister Robinah Nabbanja not to abuse the Parish Development Model program.

Following complaints from Kyabigambire sub-county residents over the delay in PDM funds reaching their parish SACCOS, a warning was issued on Sunday.

In the Hoima district chairperson byelection, Nabbanja and other prominent National Resistance Movement party (NRM) officials had gone to mobilize support for NRM flag-bearer Uthiman Mubarak Mugisa.

Leaders from other communities, including Nyamirima and Kisabagwa villages, informed Nabbanja that despite registering to receive money from the program a year ago, they have never done so.

He noted that several farmers prepared their gardens hoping to get the money to buy seeds in vain.

Jane Murungi from Nyamirima also complained of delayed disbursement of PDM money yet they registered several months ago.

Nabbanja confirmed that she had received information that the implementers of PDM registered beneficiaries with financial capability yet the programme is targeting those who are not in the money economy.

She also accused the implementers of the programme of not doing enough to sensitise the public about PDM, which, according to her, is affecting the progress of the initiative.

She vowed to follow up on the issues and promised that all those sabotaging the programme would be handled and forced to refund the money.
