Lamwo Leaders Investigated for OPM Cash

According to Ochieng, several examples have been documented in Paloga Sub-County, where beneficiaries have included teachers and councillors.

A group of local leaders and government officials in Paloga sub-county, Lamwo district, are being probed following allegations that they benefitted from the Parish Development Model (PDM) program.

The Resident District Commissioner, Geoffrey Osborn Ochieng, said that an investigation is underway following complaints from residents who claimed that their leaders had improperly benefited from the initiative, depriving the intended recipients.

According to Ochieng, several examples have been documented in Paloga Sub-County, where beneficiaries have included teachers and councilors.

Ochieng said his office has called the implicated leaders and government workers to file their defense and has warned that if found guilty, they would be asked to reimburse the money or face punishment.

This is the second inquiry in which leaders have been accused, following the previous one in which the Chairpersons of Padibe and Katum Sub-Counties were ordered to return 1,000,000 shillings each that they had received illegally under the PDM program.
