Kigezi
The government commissioned the presidential initiative for zonal industrial hub for the Kigezi sub-region, aiming at skilling youth in Kabale, Kisoro, Kanungu, Rubanda, Rukiga, and Rukungiri districts.
While meeting the leaders at the launch of the presidential initiative for Zonal Industrial Hub Kigezi Sub Region in Rwakihirwa village, Kamuganguzi sub county in Kabale Distric,
Comptroller, Jane Barekye, told the leaders that under this initiative young people will gain skills in shoe making, carpentry, tailoring, knitting and weaving, baking, masonry, brick laying, plumbing and electronics.
She also revealed that a 4-acre model farm will be established and crops that do very well in the region will be grown for farmers to learn how to utilize a small piece of land by practicing intensive modern and calculated agriculture for wealth creation.
Jane Barekye also says that the skills training hub, which is entirely free of charge will also offer ideological training for mindset change.
The Presidential pledge is intended at skilling the unprivileged members of the society, who have not had an opportunity to attain former education, so that they can be useful and join the money economy.
The Industrial hub, which on top is to offer employment to the unemployed youths, the same will support production by creating value addition facilities, which will contribute a lot to the household incomes of Ugandans.
